It’s difficult for many adults without children at home to grasp the idea that school is back in session — and for more than two and three weeks in several cases.
And for the generation of us who didn’t return to school until after Labor Day, it’s even more mind-boggling.
But the school year is well underway, and over the next several weeks teachers will begin to identify students who are not equipped to handle the material at their current grade level or already are beginning to lag behind the rest of the class. By winter, these youngsters will be well behind their peers.
