Editorial: Weekly Rewards (June 20, 2014)



Thumbs-up to the managers and young men and women who serve as lifeguards to keep public swimming pools safe, fun places to be for area youth each summer. They don’t earn a lot, but the skills they offer represent a tremendous asset and offer great comfort to parents.

Thumbs-up to American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars posts for staging Memorial Day services to honor deceased veterans. The annual programs pay tribute to the sacrifices that veterans and their families have made over the years in service to the country.

Thumbs-up to the volunteers, organizers and financial supporters of the March of Dimes March for Babies. This year’s walk in Seymour raised $23,000 to help prevent premature births.
