Editorial: Weekly Rewards (June 13, 2014)



Thumbs-up to Seymour Parks and Recreation Department for organizing and staging the first Kids to Park Day observance in the city. The event, which organizers plan to make an annual program, brought families together to exercise, play games and enjoy what city parks have to offer. The event took place at Gaiser Park on the city’s south side.

Thumbs-up to Margaret R. Brown Elementary School students who logged more than 151,000 minutes of reading for annual spring reading program at the Seymour school. Students celebrated with the school’s annual balloon launch.

Thumbs-up to Seymour resident Ashlee Butler, who served as the first paid research assistant at Ivy Tech Community College Columbus. She recently earned an Associate of Science degree in liberal arts and plans to attend Purdue University this fall.
