Thumbs-up to Seymour Community Schools, Cummins Inc. and the Greater Seymour Chamber of Commerce for teaming on a community garden project this spring and summer. The project will offer agricultural students a hands-on opportunity to learn how to plan, create, plant and manage a garden and harvest and sell its produce. The community can benefit from the offering of freshly grown, local produce. Residents will be able to rent garden plots to grow their own fresh produce as well.
Thumbs-up to area students (and their teachers) who participated in the recent 2014 Math Bowl at Seymour-Jackson Elementary School. The activity brings students from area schools together to put their math skills to the test.
Thumbs-up to the Purdue Club of Jackson County, which raised $7,000 to be presented as scholarships to graduating seniors who plan to attend college at a Purdue University campus.
