Editorial: Weekly rewards 5/2/14

Thumbs-up to volunteers who helped Jackson County Health Department and other first responders stage a mock mass point of distribution center. The exercise put first responders to the test on how efficiently they could set up and operate a center where medication would be delivered to the general population. Such exercises — and real-life scenarios — depend on many volunteers in addition to those volunteer and paid first responders.

Thumbs-up to Colton Lee Fleetwood, a student at Brownstown Central High School. He was recently honored as the Fort Vallonia chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizen of the Year.

Thumbs-up to Purdue Extension educator Lauren Neuenschwander for her series of programs called Nourish Your Body. It continues with Nourish Your Skin on May 13 and Nourish Your Bones and Joints on June 24. Anyone interested may register for one or all of the programs by going to myjclibrary.org/events or calling the Jackson County Library in Seymour at 812-522-3412, ext. 1243.
