Editorial: Weekly rewards 6/5/14

Thumbs-up to 450 volunteers who helped Make A Difference across the community during the 18th annual Jackson County United Way Day of Caring. Volunteers spread out to all corners of the county, taking part in 71 service projects. The Day of Caring and the help that so many people provide is a shining example of what helps make Jackson County a great place to work and live.

Thumbs-up to Seymour residents Mitchell Hall and Cody Surenkamp on being among the first students to earn a mechanical engineering degree at Indiana University-Purdue University Columbus. The program is partly the result of efforts through the Economic Opportunities by 2015, a consortium of counties in Southeast Indiana, including Jackson County.

Thumbs-up to Seymour High School runner Zoey Johnson, a double winner in the Hoosier Hills Conference girls track and field meet. She won the 1600-meter run and 3200-meter run.
