Education officials: Response was routine safety procedure

A Seymour elementary school went on lockdown Thursday morning after a man robbed a nearby bank and fled on foot.

The robbery of Centra Credit Union at 520 S. Jackson Park Drive was the first of two that took place in Jackson County within an hour of each other. That robbery led to a lockdown of Margaret R. Brown Elementary at 550 Miller Lane.

The second bank robbery was reported at The Peoples Bank in Crothersville, causing Crothersville Community Schools to go on lockdown, too.
