Officials get ready for wicked weather

Local emergency workers spent Friday putting measures into place to help them cope with potential weather conditions Sunday and Monday that haven’t been seen in this part of southern Indiana in years.

Those conditions include a storm that could dump somewhere between 6 and 10 inches of snow by Sunday night and winds of 20 mph or more to blow that snow around, creating what could be near-blizzard like conditions, according to the National Weather Service.

A winter storm watch has been issued for most of Indiana from Saturday night through Sunday night. The watch area covers all but Indiana’s southwestern counties and east-central and southeastern Indiana.
