Families packed the Seymour High School gymnasium Saturday for the 16th annual Kids Fest.

Child Care Network executive director Janice Read said the ever-popular and growing event seeks to provide critical information to parents about resources in Jackson County. Child Care Network is responsible for organizing the event, which draws sponsorships from business — small and large — throughout the community.

Read said Kids Fest, which began in a small tent in a parking lot on East Tipton Street, is designed to highlight how important children are while helping those children get involved in the community at a young age.

“If we want a strong community, we have to have children who are nurtured and can grow into strong adults,” she said.
