The public can join Lake Monroe naturalist Jill Vance on a hike to the fossil beds on the Allens Creek State Recreation Area peninsula on Feb. 1.
The free hike starts at 1 p.m. and takes roughly three hours, covering a distance of about 4 miles over moderate terrain to the fossil exposure and back.
“This is easily the most popular program that I offer,” Vance said. “It always fills, so I recommend registering early.”
