Family disputes taken seriously

Brownstown Police Chief Tom Hanner spent about an hour meeting with town residents wanting to share concerns and to talk about his goals.

Town resident Nikki Allman, who founded the Tabitha Brock Foundation, asked Hanner how much domestic violence was reported in town. Allman’s sister, Tabitha Brock, 23, of Seymour, was murdered May 10, 2012, during a fight with her former boyfriend.

Hanner said he estimated that 50 to 60 percent of all complaints investigated by the department involved a family fight.
