Farm family honored for completing certification

A Jackson County livestock producer recently was recognized by the state for completing a certified livestock producer program.

Steve Ritter and his family raise purebred Angus beef cattle in western Jackson County on Shady Springs Farm, which they established in 1978.

The family utilizes artificial insemination to add replacement animals and top genetics to their herd of approximately 50 brood cows, according to a news release from Indiana State Department of Agriculture.
