Fire alarm reported at Freeman Field

Seymour Fire Department is fighting a fire reported at Kremers Urban at Freeman Field Industrial Park.

Flames were seen coming from the roof of a building, Seymour Police Cpl. Tim Toborg said of his arrival on the scene.

Seymour Fire Chief Brad Lucas said the fire has been contained to a compressor room and that no one was hurt.

"Employees were evacuated as a precaution, but they've been allowed back into the plant, isolated from this area," Lucas said. He did not know how many employees were inside when the fire started.

The fire's cause remains under investigation.

"There was a fire in the compressor room and contained to that area and to vent on the roof.," Lucas said.

Firefighters were cutting out portions of the roof to ensure the fire had not spread to another area of the building, Lucas said.

The factory complex, formerly operated by Schwarz Pharma, is at 1101 C Ave.
