Customers of Jackson County Public Library in Seymour, Crothersville and Medora can pay overdue fines by donating nonperishable food items this month.

Food will be accepted as payment for fines starting Oct. 14 and ending Oct. 27.

Donations of nonperishable food items collected in lieu of fines are given to local food pantries at Human Services, Community Provisions Inc. and Anchor House in Seymour; Crothersville First Baptist Church; and Medora Christian Church.

Paul Brock of Community Provisions said the program has been a benefit throughout the years, helping stock the pantry’s shelves.
