For Hulda Goecker, it has always been about family.
Walking into the Goecker home, her love of family is unmistakeable. With her living room filled with family photos, she has resorted to posting pictures to the doors of the closets in her entryway.
“I’ve got them all over the place,” she said.
Born with twin Hilda, Hulda Goecker, who turns 90 on Aug. 31, grew up with three brothers and three sisters in Dudleytown south of Seymour.
Hulda later married Earl Goecker. Their marriage gave them four children. Her family has now grown to her 13 grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
Her love for family is nothing new. After the youngest of her four children started school, she almost went crazy being in her house alone, she said.
“There were times I could have sworn I heard kids running around, but there weren’t any there,” Goecker said.
