Former Owls pitcher helps team win collegiate league championship

Through all of his appearances on the mound for Seymour High School and the University of Kentucky, Zack Brown said none compared to his Aug. 6 outing for the Amsterdam Mohawks in the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League championship series.

Brown, a 2013 Seymour graduate who now plays at UK, pitched 5-1/3 innings in relief, didn’t give up a hit and reached 96 mph.

The Mohawks defeated Newark 9-3 that night and then came back the next day with a 12-1 win to capture their third straight league title.
