Jackson County Soil and Water Conservation District fired its one employee in the wake of a state audit about the misuse of district funds.
“Her last day was Monday (Oct. 1),” Tim Hoevener said of Rebecca Lauster, the district’s former coordinator and treasurer.
Hoevener, president of the district’s five-member board of directors, said he could not discuss the reasons for Lauster’s dismissal, however.
The board has yet to begin the process of replacing her, he said.
