Few festivals have stood the test of time as well as the one conducted on the third weekend of October each year in the oldest community in Jackson County.
Fort Vallonia Days has been in place so long that most of the people of the community know what they have to do to make the festival successful.
“Everyone just pitches in and does what they are supposed to do like they always have,” Ann Cooper said. Cooper is the publicity and parade chairwoman for the 45th annual festival, which will be staged Saturday and Sunday.
