Brownstown Central senior Ryan Franklin earned his first trip to the cross-country state finals, while Seymour senior Jack Tormoehlen will be going for the second time as each were among the top 10 individuals from non-advancing teams at Saturday's Brown County Semistate.
Franklin placed 21st in 16:14, and Tormoehlen finished 25th in 16:27.
Those two county runners also had their teammates running with them. Seymour, however, missed the cutoff for qualifying for state by one place, finishing seventh with 264 points. Brownstown was 16th out of 20 teams with 396 points.
In the girls meet, Seymour wound up 20th out of 20 teams with 554 points. Madison Hays rolled her ankle and wasn't able to finish the race, and three other Owls already were out of the meet with injuries.
Brownstown's Elisa Gallion ran individually, and she placed 145th in 22:07.
