Fresh thinking: Cortland honored for new health habits

Pizza parties, cupcakes to celebrate birthdays and candy rewards in the classroom are a thing of the past at Cortland Elementary School.

Instead, students are being offered fresh fruits, vegetables and other healthier alternatives.

And if a student misbehaves, they may have extra homework, but they won’t be kept from running and playing at recess.
