A wreck on State Road 235 just east of Medora damaged a natural gas line.
“There was a lot of gas leaking,” Jackson County Officer Adam Nicholson said of the incident on Wednesday involving a semitrailer truck driven by Timothy Bough.
The incident, reported at 3:30 p.m. in the 4000 block of South State Road 235, did not cause any loss of service for customers served by Midwest Natural Gas Corp., a company spokesman said Thursday.
Terry Schafer, a company regional area manager, said crews were on the scene until 9 p.m.
“There was a lot of gas blowing,” Schafer said.
Bough, 42, of Salem was leaving town with a load of wood chips when the load apparently shifted, Nicholson said. The truck then fell onto its side and into the natural gas line, he said.
A utility crew was called to the scene to repair the leak, so a wrecker crew could upright the semitrailer, Nicholson said.
Lt. Darin Downs also investigated the incident.
