Seymour Community Schools trustees gave initial approval to 2014 budgets that total $38.33 million, an increase from current budgets of $36.67 million.
Most of the district’s budget — 94 percent — is made up of the general fund, which is financed by state sales tax rather than local property taxes. Funding is based on student enrollment.
The general fund is projected to increase from $26.5 million to $27.8 million.
General fund money is used for teacher and staff salaries and benefits, utilities, supplies and contracted services.
