Glitches slow sidewalk project

BROWNSTOWN

A federally funded project to improve sidewalks and accessibility for pedestrians near the Brownstown pool won’t begin as quickly as at least one town official had hoped.

The town council received that message from Dave Henson with Architectural Design Concepts of Jasper during a council meeting Monday night.

He said work might not start until fall.

In July 2012, the council approved a plan to use $250,000 in federal funds to build sidewalks along Bridge Street in the area of the pool. The work would make the pool more accessible for the handicapped and provide better access to the pool for those parking in a nearby parking lot.
