Some help from a stranger and advice from a good friend helped turn Chris Baker’s year of golf around.
After what he considered a poor start to the year while competing in eGolf Professional Tour events, the 27-year-old Brownstown native played in a Monday qualifier for the Web.com Tour and missed the cut. He then went to a nearby golf course and found a man hitting chip shots.
“I was watching him, and every chip is perfect, on line and going to go in the hole,” Baker said. “It was great, and I’m like, ‘I’ve got to meet this guy.’ So I met him, and he hands me his card and says, ‘Call me. I’ll teach you everything you need to know.’”
