Hearing focused on fee proposal

Seymour residents will have the opportunity to speak on the city’s proposal to collect a $4 monthly fee for stormwater management during a public hearing at 7 p.m. today.

The hearing is part of a regular meeting where the city council is set to discuss and vote on an ordinance to establish a stormwater utility.

Fees for businesses and non-residential properties will be higher and vary on the size of their impervious or hardened surfaces, including parking lots, rooftops and playgrounds, which prevent the natural absorption of rain water into the ground, creating runoff and flooding.
