Miss America 2009 Katie Stam has performed the national anthem so many times over the years it would seem an easy gig.

That’s not the case, the Seymour native said Monday, an hour after performing “The Star-Spangled Banner” before a crowd of 1,500 people attending Gov. Mike Pence’s inauguration ceremony outside the Statehouse in downtown Indianapolis.

“I can tell you, it never gets easier,” she said.
