Potentially heavy rainfall combined with recent snow melt is expected to push the East Fork White River out of its banks over the weekend and into Christmas Day.
Jackson County and areas northeast of Seymour that feed into the river could receive 4 to 5 inches of rain through Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.
That runoff is expected to swell the East Fork White River to a crest of 17 feet early Monday morning, the weather service said. Flood stage at Seymour is 12 feet, which should be passed sometime early Sunday morning, the weather service predicts.
