High water closes state road

The Indiana Department of Transportation closed State Road 235 in the Medora area because of  rising flood waters.

East Fork White River was flooded in the area between Medora and Vallonia.

The river's level was rising from 12.78 feet at 10 a.m. Friday. The river is expected to crest just above 13 feet Friday night. Flood stage at Seymour is 12 feet.

The closure of State Road 235 will remain in effect until waters recede, the state said.

County roads in low areas along the river are also under water.

Jackson County Sheriff Mike Carothers said motorists should consider a road closed if covered by water.
