Historic hotel fish fry fundraiser planned

The final monthly fish fry of 2012 to benefit the Joe Jackson Hotel restoration project will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Whistle Stop, across from the post office in Vallonia.

The hotel at 2420 S. Main St., Vallonia, was built in 1914 and is listed on both state and national Registers of Historic Places.

To date, restoration work has involved stabilizing the structure, replacing the roof, gutting the interior, installation of windows and installation of a new store front.

Some of the work that remains to be done includes wiring, plumbing and finishing the interior.
