Tolbert to make initial court appearance Monday in hit-and-run case

COLUMBUS, Ind. — An Elizabethtown man charged with reckless homicide in the death of a Vallonia man after a fight at Caddie's Pub is scheduled to make his initial court appearance at 9 a.m. Monday in Bartholomew Circuit Court.

Police suspect that Jacob A. Tolbert, 24, used his  pickup truck to strike Thomas L. Brazzell, 27, early Sunday outside the tavern, at 2761 Central Ave.

Brazzell died almost immediately of multiple trauma to the head, according to the coroner.

Tolbert has been charged with reckless homicide, a Class C felony; leaving the scene of an accident causing death, also a Class C felony; and possession of marijuana, a Class A misdemeanor.
