The honey harvest in Indiana and across the nation was down 35 percent in 2013, the lowest level on record.

The decline can be traced, at least in part, to the health of bee colonies, a beekeeping expert said.

But Rob Green, director of the Indiana Beekeeping School, also believes there’s a way to stop the declining honey bee population — create more beekeepers.
