In recent years, Jeffersonville High School boys basketball fan Lee Stewart followed the Red Devils to postseason games at Southport and Shelbyville.
But he said nothing compares to watching a game at Seymour High School’s Lloyd E. Scott Gymnasium, which holds 8,110 people and is now the third-largest high school gym in the nation since the Anderson High School Wigwam closed.
For Saturday’s Seymour Semistate games, the gym was near capacity.
“I’ve never been to a high school gym with this kind of atmosphere,” Stewart said. “It reminds me of nonclass basketball because we used to see it like this when it was all one class. It’s outstanding. It’s a great place to see a ballgame. There are very few bad seats. The enthusiasm just bounces off the walls.”
