Since the Shoals girls basketball team had beaten Medora 10 straight times prior to Thursday night, Medora coach Brad McCammon said he felt his team was due for a win against the Jug Rox.

Medora built a 45-38 lead with 3:45 remaining in the fourth quarter, and then had to hold on until the buzzer for a 51-48 win.

A free throw by Ashley Lambert at 2:48 put Medora up 47-41, but with 2:20 to go, Shoals’ Jaylin Hilderbrand scored from close range to make it 47-46.

Montana Wheeler scored on a move to the basket at the 1-minute mark that put the Hornets on top 50-46, and Hannah Elkins added a free throw before Shoals scored a basket in the closing seconds.
