Medora’s volleyball team won the first set of Tuesday’s season-opener 25-22, but Springs Valley closed out the match 25-12, 25-17, 25-23.
Hornets junior varsity volleyball player Kassi Lewis-Yoskovich, who died in a wreck over the weekend, was honored. Her family from New York was presented with her No. 26 jersey, and purple balloons were released at the end of the night.
“The gym was packed, and we had to pull the other side of the bleachers out, which for us is a big deal,” Hornets coach Sara Carney said. “There was a lot of emotion, and I told them to put all of your emotions into this game.”
Maddie Plummer led Medora in hitting (19 of 23 with seven kills) and serving (16 of 17 with two aces).
