Houston Fall Festival beginning next week

Organizers of the Houston Fall Festival, set for 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 12, are requesting donations of homemade baked goods for the bake sale.

The festival, first conducted in 1994, focuses on raising money to preserve the community’s former school house. The school last saw students in 1967, and in the early 1990s a film company wanted to purchase the school and burn it as part of a movie.

Community members, however, decided to conduct the festival to raise funds to restore the church, which sits on property owned by Houston Christian Church.
