I-65 reopens nearJackson-Scott line

UPDATE AT 8:44 a.m.

Interstate 65 has reopend just north of the Jackson-Scott County line. It had been closed since shortly after 3 a.m. today following a fatal wreck.

However, U.S. 31 remains closed both north and southbound near exit 36 in Austin, Sgt. Noel Houze said.

He said a semi went down an embankment from I-65 northbound onto U.S. 31 and that road is closed and estimated to remain closed until early Friday afternoon.

North and southbound traffic on U.S. 31 can enter I-65 either direction from the interchange.

A trucker crashed at the 36.5-mile marker, Houze said. One person was killed.

Northbound traffic was being detoured off I-65 at Exit 34 in Austin and routed north on U.S. 31 where traffic could re-enter northbound I-65 from Exit 36 at Crothersville exit.
