Incident outside court leads to man’s arrest

A 33-year-old Seymour man’s violation of a protective order Wednesday led to a couple of questionable decisions that resulted in his arrest on three criminal charges, police report.

Revas Michael Wayne Spencer was arrested on a Class D felony charge of resisting law enforcement with a vehicle, and Class A misdemeanor charge of criminal recklessness and and invasion of privacy, after the incident was reported outside Jackson Superior Court II in Brownstown, said Lt. Andy Wayman with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department.

“A court security officer saw him with the woman who had the protective order against him and tried to ask him about it,” Wayman said.

Wayman said Spencer was having no part of talking about the protective order with Court Security Officer Loy Hanner outside the court at 220 E. Walnut St.

“He (Spencer) took off in a car, and Loy said he almost hit him,” Wayman said. Hanner was not struck.

Police later stopped Spencer on Venus Road east of Brownstown.

Spencer was being held on two bonds, one for $1,005 and the other for $705, at the Jackson County Jail in Brownstown on Thursday afternoon.
