BROWNSTOWN

More than a dozen officers lined the side walls of Jackson Circuit Court as Isiah T. Roger and five other inmates shuffled into court for their initial hearings Tuesday afternoon.

Also inside the courtroom was Deputy Rick Meyer of Seymour, the officer Roger is accused of shooting twice, once in each shoulder, during a shootout Thursday night near Tampico.

Like the other inmates, Roger was handcuffed and in leg irons. Unlike the rest, he wore a print hospital gown instead of a red jail jumpsuit, his left arm in a sling. Roger was wounded by Meyer on Thursday in return fire, police said.
