Kroger Co. is adding a full-service pharmacy to its Jay C Foods Plus store at 1541 E. Tipton St. in Seymour, giving customers another option to fill their prescriptions.

As part of the project, an internal makeover is planned for all of the 45,000-square-foot store, with a new configuration of aisles and checkout lanes, said Mark Combs, Jay C’s executive director of marketing.

“The store was laid out well for what it had,” he said. “It wasn’t laid out well for a pharmacy. We need to work a lot of the general merchandise and health and beauty care items closer to the pharmacy where they belong. We’ll be adding more of those items, as well.”

Preparation work on the 800-square-foot pharmacy began Monday, and the project is scheduled to be completed in six to eight weeks. The pharmacy will be in the building’s southwest corner, where the floral department had been.
