Jackson County employment picture looks brighter

In January 2008, 9,123 people worked in manufacturing and distribution in Jackson County.

That was a month after the recession began. One year later, 1,704 of those jobs had disappeared.

It would take four years before local employers would add enough jobs to top the pre-recession number.
