Jackson County man held in attempted bank robbery



COLUMBUS, Ind. — A Seymour man has been arrested and charged with Class C felony attempted robbery of the PNC Bank at 1830 25th St. in Columbus.

Columbus police arrested Kelly L. Hughes, 29, at about noon, after police received a call that a suspicious person matching the robbery suspect’s description was seen near 11th Street.

The attempted robbery was reported at 10:41 a.m. Thursday and police arrived in less than a minute.

No weapon was mentioned or displayed during the robbery attempt and no one was injured. Police are asking for anyone with additional information to contact Sgt. Tom Foust at 812-376-2600.
