Jennings County team has strong showing at Disney World

Jennings County Archery competed on Oct. 6 in the National Archery in the Schools Program World Tourna­­ment at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida.

One student from Jennings County High School participated. Freshman Ariel Galliher placed sixth with a score of 281 in the high school female division.

Three students from Jennings County Middle School participated. Eighth-grader Adrianne Garris had a score of 273; seventh-grader Christopher Walters had a score of 248; and seventh-grader Natalie Owens placed first in her division and second overall in the female shooters division with a score of 294.

Hayden Elementary School placed second with a score of 3,245, and it won the Spirit Award for the fourth year in a row. Fifth-grader Caroline McDonald placed fourth with a score of 277.

The top five from each division were awarded with a plaque and a medal. Hayden Elementary was awarded with an eagle trophy and a team trophy as well as individual medals for its second-place team finish.
