Jennings man arrested after car chase



NORTH VERNON

A Jennings County man faces as many as eight criminal charges related to a brief chase Friday night in North Vernon, police report.

The charges pending against Shane Coffey, 26, of North Vernon, include Class D felonies of resisting law enforcement by fleeing in a vehicle and possession of a syringe, according to a news release from North Vernon Officer Justin Black.

Black, the department’s public information officer, said Coffey also faces Class A misdemeanor charges of resisting law enforcement by fleeing on foot and possession of paraphernalia; Class B misdemeanor charges of reckless driving and disorderly conduct; and Class C misdemeanor charges of operating while intoxicated and leaving the scene of a property-damage wreck.
