A 17-year-old North Vernon girl was critically injured in a single-vehicle wreck in Jennings County early Friday morning, police said.
The girl’s name is not being released at this time.
Deputy Anthony Maberry, an accident reconstructionist with the Jennings County Sheriff’s Office, reported the female driver of a 2008 Pontiac was northbound on Indiana 3 around 8:30 a.m. when she lost control of the vehicle near County Road 400 South.
The vehicle crossed the roadway and into a ditch on the west side of the road, Maberry said. It then began to roll, striking a fence.
Maberry said the driver was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the vehicle, which continued to roll, striking a fence and coming to rest right side up in a yard, Maberry said.
The driver was flown to a Louisville area hospital for treatment of her injuries, and the wreck is still under investigation.
