More Jackson County residents drew paychecks in October than the month before, but the county's unemployment rate ticked slightly upward.
An additional 119 people had jobs last month compared with September, according to a report from the Indiana Department of Workforce Development released Friday.
The county's labor force grew to 21,767, with 1,231 people unemployed, yielding an unemployment rate of 5.7 percent. The rate in September stood at 5.6 percent.
The increase in jobs confirmed what Jim Plump with Jackson County Industrial Development Corp. said he has been hearing in recent meetings with area employers.
