Johnson advances to track state finals



BLOOMINGTON

Seymour junior Zoey Johnson finished second in the 1,600-meter run at Tuesday’s Bloomington North Regional for a trip to the girls state finals.

She finished in 5:14.54, while Bloomington South’s Alexandra Warzyniak won in 5:08.41.

The top three in each event advance from regional to state, and Johnson wound up fifth in the 3,200. Also scoring for Seymour were the 3,200 and 1,600 relays, placing seventh and eighth, respectively; Adrianna Bassard in long jump, finishing seventh; Megan Kimbley in high jump, placing fourth; and Sidney Carr in discus, placing seventh.

Brownstown Central’s only points were from the fifth-place 400 relay team, while Crothersville got points from Chandler Nehrt (sixth in 100 hurdles) and Sam Spall (eighth in long jump).

Bloomington South won the team title with 127 points, and Bloomington North was second with 115. Seymour scored 24 for seventh place, and Brownstown and Crothersville tied for 23rd with four points apiece.
