Junior named Braves track and field MVP

Whatever events coach Maria Weigel put Elisa Gallion in this spring, the Brownstown Central High School junior could be counted on to give her best performance.

Gallion competed in the 400-meter dash, 100-meter hurdles and 400- and 1,600-meter relays in the Seymour Sectional and qualified for the Bloomington North Regional in all four events.

“Pretty much what I put her in, she did well,” Weigel said Thursday night before presenting Gallion with the most valuable award during the girls track and field awards program.

Weigel said the award goes to the person who scored the most points. Gallion led with 125¼, and senior Emily Newberry was a close second with 125 points.
