Glitter, zebra print, ponies and pink took their place next to Batman, Legos and sleek red as the county held its first all-Scouts pinewood derby race Saturday.
While Jackson County Cub Scout and Boy Scout troops have gathered for the race before, this was the first year Girl Scouts have participated.
Even though the turnout was mostly Girl Scouts and a handful of Cub Scouts, the event brought together the large community of scouts in Jackson County said Christina Greer, Cub Master of Pack 256 in Seymour as well as the service unit manager for Jackson County Girl Scouts.
“We wanted to see how scouts would race against other scouts,” she said.
Scouts and family members filled the gymnasium at Immanuel Lutheran School to cheer on the 48 participants in all age ranges. Greer said almost all levels of Girls Scouts and Cub Scouts participated.
