Walk into the new advanced manufacturing and technology lab at the Jackson County Learning Center in Seymour and you won't feel like you're in a classroom at all.
The lab looks more like the work area in a factory than a post-secondary educational environment.
One side is filled with Amatrol robotics and computerized training equipment for electrical, pneumatics and mechanical systems. On the other side is machinery that could have been taken from the floor of any local industrial employer.
It's one of two recently completed new labs at the center. The other is focused on science classes.
The general public can take a look at the new advanced manufacturing and technology and science labs, which cost around $600,000 to equip, during an open house from 4 to 6 p.m. Sept. 26.
