Leader: Austin classes optional

Crothersville Superintendent Terry Goodin admitted to trustees and community members Monday night that a decision to go forward with an educational partnership with Scott County School District 1 was made too quickly.

The partnership, which was approved unanimously by the school board at July’s monthly meeting, would have required all Crothersville freshmen to be bused to and from Austin — about 4.5 miles each way — to take three elective courses.

The classes were to be offered in a block schedule, with one group of freshmen going in the morning and another in the afternoon.
